LAKE WOODRUFF NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE

This time of year, around the middle of August, hundreds of Swallow-tailed Kites congregate at the refuge for their migration to South America.  I have never witnessed this gathering although I see the kites regularly.  I spent the morning checking out the refuge.  After I left, I did find 7 or 8 kites on the west side of DeLand, not far from the refuge.
